Burton Hockey Ladies 1s had a tough physical encounter with Tamworth 1s and finished with a 1-1 draw continuing their unbeaten run. Man of the match Hannah Tjon Soei Len scored the Burton goal after a lovely string of passes starting from centre back and working their way up the pitch. Sadly Burton struggled to replicate this too many times and had to work hard defensively to keep Tamworth out and stay 1-0 up at half time. Burton upped the pace in the second half and had a number of chances but failed to convert. Tamworth then struck home with a rocket of a straight strike from a short corner that was won against the run of play. The rest of the second half was mainly in Burton’s control and although everyone was pushing for a second goal, it was not meant to be. The final whistle blew at 1-1 and the team a little deflated but have taken things from the match to focus on going forward.

Burton Hockey Ladies 2s hosted Matlock 3s and won 4 0. Burton were looking to redeem themselves after 2 weeks of tough games.

The games started off quite slow but Burton maintained most of possession. There were many attempts in goal for Burton but they just couldn't find the back of the net. Burton were awarded a flick but the keeper made a good save. Felicity Norcross sloted one in before the end of the first half.

After a good team talk, Burton were ready to increase the work rate. Burton started strongly, using the transfer multiple time to create the changes in goal. This paid off as most of the play stayed in Matlock's half of the pitch. With the help of balls across the D from Sophie Carlton-Greaves and Hannah Tjon Soei Len  Norcross managed to bag another three goals.

Man of the match was shared between Annie Lord and Felicity Norcross

Burton Ladies 3s found Ilkeston 1s to strong and went down 4 0.

Burton Hockey Ladies 4s had a good result against Matlock winning 4-0. Burton had several chances before finally finishing off a well worked move for the lead. Another goal followed before half time for a 2 0 led. Defensively in control in the second half, Burton added two more for a 4 0 win and they are unbeaten and top of the table

Burton ladies 2s were in cup action and took a long trek to Lymm for the first round of the England cup. Burton started off on the front foot, showing great potential in Lymm's D. With good balls from Fran Lord, the ball found it's way into the D for Ffion Church to finish on back post. Burton kept the ball rolling, hitting the base line with some good ball being played into the D. Finally Lymm began to find their foot in the game, finding themselves in our D, but play was soon broken down. Burton soon found themselves on the attack, with Lord slotting the ball into the back of the net to take a 2 goal lead to half time.

After a positive half time talk, Burton sprung back into action, making Lymm work hard. Both teams continued to push hard but no goals were scored in this half, the 2 0 win taking them through to the next round.

Man of the match was Chloe Logan.

Burton Hockey Men 1s had the gruelling fixture of Sikh Union 1st team away at the weekend, played in glorious sunshine.

Burton made a promising start until from a free hit,  the Sikh union  striker made a swift turn and slipped the ball in to the back of the net and caught Burton skipper, Liam Goode on his head in the follow through. Burton looked to regain possession and start again. The normal Burton way of hockey, of pass and move was in full flow, Mark Ashton-Blanksby managed to wiggle his way through 2 or 3 defenders before finding Ben Elson who found Jamie Jenkins on the back post to fire home to equalise. Burton won the ball back strongly through Tim Winter who found Matt Evans who won burton a short corner. The short corner was fired home top right by Goode after not long coming back on the pitch to take the lead. Burton continued to put the pressure on Sikh Union, the transfer was strong and plenty of options to hit the line. Burton used the aerial threat again to find Ben Elson 1 on 1 with the keeper, for then Elson to be taken out and gaining a penalty stroke which he riffled the ball top right to put burton 3-1 up at half time.

After a positive team talk from Coach Jamie Cooper burton looked to carry on how they finished. Burton kept the ball for a while before the opposition hit us on the break and scored a deflection back post. The opposition pressed and pressed and after 5 mins they had slotted another 4 home to put them selves 6-3 in front. With only 5 minutes to go Burton lost a man to a green card. This roused the team and they pushed and pushed with only a few moments to spare and burton won a short corner. After Goode hitting the crossbar and putting one wide Mark Northcott stepped up. He slotted his first home and then scored another moments later. The score now 6-5. Burton sore the opportunity of a point, Andrew Locker hit the flank down the left, cut in and delivered an inch perfect ball to the penalty spot for Elson to deflect home to level the scores at 6 all. With seconds to spare northcott wriggled his way down the baseline and ended up flicking the ball over the keepers left shoulder and over the crossbar narrowly missing.

Man of the match was shared between Mark Northcott and Nick Lathbury

Burton Mens 2s found Beeston 3s too strong and went down 5 3 with goals from Paul Cleaver Ed Clamp and Neil Massey

Burton Hockey Mens 3s men had a home fixture against Barton 2s with both teams having a strong line up. Barton took an early lead and from a short corner Rob Pilgrim piledrived an equalizer. The first half continued with a high intensity from both sides and Barton started to dominate and Burton were just holding on .. From a short corner  Tom Gibbs went in for a drag flick to put Burton in the lead. Half time and the captain roused the troops as 2-1 was not enough. The game got a bit scrappy and Barton scored putting their tails up. Another short corner was won and Pilgrim again finished well for his second. Then Harry Clarke having a rare run in midfield found himself in the right place and slotted in at the far post to seal a 4-2 win.  Pilgrim was Man of the Match

Burton 4s had an entertaining 3 all draw with West Bridgeford 7s. Two goals from David Sneyd and one from Glynn Ho.lland

Burton men’s 5ths were also playing a local derby against  Barton 4ths.

Barton started the game well putting Burton under early pressure but the solid back line of Craig Asker, Nick Shenton and Andy Ball held firm. The first half finished with a good opportunity to score but despite several attempts on goal the score remained 0-0.

After a formation change at half time to allow Burtons midfield to push up Burton started to create more chances but again drew blanks. As Burton pushed up the game became stretched and a number of fantastic saves by Gianni Di Frari in goal kept Burton in the game. A great solo effort by Alex Farmer was saved by the Barton keeper and Brandon Logan was testing the Barton midfield consistently.

With 15 minutes to go Barton scored from a well worked short corner, Burton responded immediately with an Andy Ball short corner. The game finished 1 all a fair reflection of the match with Craig Asker man of the match
